Three nominees for the University of Texas Board of Regents won unanimous approval from a Senate committee Tuesday and will go to the full Senate for final confirmation.
Judge Ernest Aliseda, businessman Jeff Hildebrand and current regent Paul Foster were nominated by Gov. Rick Perry and underwent an unusually long hearing in the Senate Nominations Committee on Monday.
Much of the discussion was on accusations that the UT board is trying to micromanage President Bill Powers. Foster denied that there was ever any talk by members of the board to remove Powers from his position or ask him to relinquish his post.
